The Rosendale Library, a Special District Public Library founded in 1958, is a member of the Mid-Hudson Library System.  Election of the Rosendale Library Board of Trustees and budget vote takes place on the first Thursday of September, and is open to all registered voters in the Town of Rosendale NY.

Mission: As a community hub, the Rosendale Library fosters opportunities for growth, lifelong learning, creativity, and community engagement. The library provides free resources and services in order to meet the evolving informational, educational, and recreational needs of the community from birth to adulthood. Guidelines:

  1. The staff shall assist the community in accessing all forms of media (including but not limited to books, electronic, audio and visual) in the Rosendale Library and MHLS.
  2. The staff shall maintain and seek to expand the library’s current collections (especially the local history collection) and inventory of government and other public documents.
  3. The staff shall strive to stimulate children’s interest in reading and learning and engage families through such programs as story hour, summer reading programs and other activities.
  4. The staff shall strive to reach out to young adults, adults and seniors by providing special programs and learning experiences for personal enrichment.

The Board of Trustees meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.

Library Policies

Committees generally meet one hour before the board meeting. Please contact the library to confirm the times of committee meetings. Residents of the Town of Rosendale who wish to serve on the board can circulate a petition to be on the ballot for the library’s annual fall election. Please contact the library to obtain a petition and learn more about the election process.

Donations

Currently we are not accepting book donations, however, we do accept donations of children’s books. The library is always seeking financial donations to help us provide the best possible service to the community.
